【Maintaining Energy Balance Part I : Cosmic Part 维持能量的平衡上编-宇宙编】
Heaven and earth were dark and yellow; the cosmos was vast and primeval. All things grew and evolved in the world. Since the emergence of consciousness, all beings have sensed the world and nature. Throughout the ages, people have continuously observed, pondered, and explored the universe: Laozi's Dao, Zhuangzi's space-time, Confucius's harmony between heaven and man, the Vedic creation, the Buddha's dependent origination. Modern physics, chemistry, philosophy, and other disciplines have conducted in-depth explorations and applications of the cosmos, producing an endless stream of theories. But have we discovered a law that governs the evolution and operation of all things and events in the entire universe? As the great physicist Stephen Hawking said: "If we do discover a complete theory, it should in time be understandable in broad principle to everyone, not just a few scientists. Then we shall all, philosophers, scientists, and just ordinary people, be able to take part in the discussion of the question of why it is that we and the universe exist. If we find the answer to that, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason — for then we would know the mind of God."
Thousands of years of scientific rise and validation in the West have given us a glimpse of energy; five thousand years of culture and practice in the East have let us understand balance. The fusion of Eastern and Western civilizations has yielded a law: "Maintain the balance of energy"; "The universe is a poem of energy, and balance is its rhyme."
Let's embark on a journey of exploring the balance of cosmic energy aboard Einstein's spacecraft, E=mc² (energy equals mass multiplied by the square of the speed of light).
First, we must distinguish between energy conservation and energy balance—these are two completely different concepts. The law of energy conservation states that energy cannot be created out of nothing, nor can it be annihilated; it can only be transformed from one form into another or transferred from one object to another, while the total amount of energy remains constant. The law of energy conservation is one of the universal fundamental laws of nature.
