【Human. Survival, desire, mission +X 人•生存、欲望、使命+X】
Since the beginning of human thought, humans have pondered who they are, why they came into this world, and what they live for. When religions emerged, humans turned to them for answers to questions about the purpose, meaning, and destiny of life. During the Warring States period, Confucius said, "Food and sex are among man's greatest desires." Indeed, everyone needs to eat and survive, people also have the right to aesthetics, and humanity must continuously reproduce.
But humanity advances, and civilization develops. In the 20th century, the "Four Haves" (having ideals, morality, culture, and discipline) became the standard for Chinese youth. Cultivating young people with the "Four Haves" is fundamental to the continuation of the socialist cause. Young people must shoulder historical missions and contribute their strength to the rejuvenation of the nation.
From the moment life emerges, the struggle for survival is constantly unfolding, even if it initially serves only the self-replication of selfish genes. But for humanity and civilization to exist in this world, survival is the primary task. To survive, plants constantly absorb nutrients, animals search for food, and humans work. Darwin pointed out in *On the Origin of Species* that the primary goal of living things is survival and reproduction. Human ancestors freed their hands by walking upright, developing the ability to use tools to obtain food and defend against natural enemies. The evolution of the immune system is meant to combat pathogens and sustain life. If survival were not the primary task, a species would be unable to adapt to its environment and would go extinct. When a person is hungry and thirsty, the hypothalamus regulates feeding behavior to ensure energy intake. When in pain or fear, pain reflexes cause the person to avoid harm, and fear hormones (such as adrenaline) trigger the "fight or flight" response. When rest is needed, the brain repairs neurons through sleep, maintaining metabolic balance.
