【The gift of life 生命的恩赐】

Since Pangu split the heavens and the earth, Earth began to nurture life. Through a long process of chemical evolution, the fundamental building blocks of life were formed — RNA components, protein components. The original molecules assembled themselves according to a specific spatial orientation, forming individuals with potential consciousness and the ability to self-regulate. RNA/DNA (genes) can self-replicate according to the genetic code, and cells composed of proteins can coordinate their operations according to the genome, thus giving rise to plants and animals. Colorful plants adorn the Earth with beauty and variety, and all kinds of animals make the Earth vibrant and lively, so that Earth stands out as unique and flourishing within the solar system.

A seed drifts on the wind and falls to the ground. Soil, water, sunlight, and air grant it what it needs for survival and growth. The seed puts down roots, the seed sprouts, and from that moment the plant begins its life journey. DNA replicates cycle after cycle, and the plant grows cycle after cycle. In spring, all things revive; nature awakens the plants, and they begin to branch out and spread their leaves. In summer, abundant rain, sunlight, and nutrients provide ample assurance for the plants to grow quickly, flower, and bear fruit. In autumn, the plants gratefully give back to nature: golden rice paddies, ripe fruits, plump wheat, soybeans, and corn — silently contributing to Earth's progress. Winter's fallen leaves are preparations for the next blossoming. Everything is so natural, everything is so beautiful. We cannot enter the interior of plants, nor feel the world as they feel it; but watching a hundred flowers vie for beauty and all things grow luxuriantly, we understand that plants happily undergo their journey, passing on the meaning of existence from generation to generation.

Cells that lived by photosynthesis evolved into plants, while cells that lived by heterotrophy evolved into animals. Fish swim freely and joyfully in the water, birds fly happily in the sky, and livestock run happily on the land. The evolution of life has granted animals the capacity for happiness; the formation of nerves enriches animals' various senses. The evolution of each species and nature itself each have their own rules. Natural selection, survival of the fittest — these principles also bring animals to another level. Sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy enrich our taste buds and also give us different perspectives on life.
